I was always a little Pyro. I can remember lighting fires in my room as early as age 5... Fortunately I made it though my childhood with just enough luck avoid any serious damage to myself or my parents house! I'd seen fire dancers in passing a few times, but it wasn't until 2003 that I was really introduced to the world of fire performance. My first experience was in a small village in Thailand, and then just a few months later I went to my first Burning Man. Needless to say, my previous concept of what was and wasn't possible with fire (and everything else) needed to be reevaluated...

In the beginning, all I wanted to do was make new toys, learn more tricks, and do everything bigger and faster. I'm still driven by these things, but more and more I find myself appreciating the subtler parts of dance; the way I interact both with the flame, and those I burn with. Since moving to Seattle and joining Womanipura I've been able to explore this aspect of my relationship with fire much more fully...

I live in a city that is filled fire and surrounded by water, I belong to a troupe that is composed of mostly Aquarians who sometimes choose to walk on the ground... This type of perfection can't be designed or chosen, only found and then recognized!
